I loved it, but I still understand your point.
I personally loved the book Eragon. To me it had a gripping plot with interesting and likeable characters. I understand what people mean when they say that the book has a lot of elements from other stories. If you were really looking for them, you could find some subtle similarities. I mean, they are not that obvious. I didn't even notice when I read the book. The only time I noticed was when I read the reviews. Some people are saying that it doesn't have enough detail, but I thought that there was just enough. Yes, he was only 15 when he wrote it but hey, its great for 15...I loved it. People have to stop comparing him to J.R.R. Tolkien. I respect Tolkien and love his work. No one can compare to him. Ever. The problem is that he was the first and happened to be the best. He had to come up with his own characters and world. No one can underestimate his mind power. He created some of the myths and facts that all of our fantasies are based on now. Its hard for any fantasy writer, including Paolini, to live up to him. People are too critical of anyone who is not Tolkien, especially if the are young, say 15 ?!?

Eragon.
Great just great, I could not put it down and now I am reading it 6th time. All you from the USA you're lucky I have to wait another two days since I live in the UK. I don't know why people compare it with diffrent books. It makes no difference to me, I just think it's a great read.

Soooo good!
Ok, firstly, I love this book.

To the people who compare it to lotr I have to say this: It's a fantasy book! if you said that about other books you'd find lots of things that a quite like each other and just because it has things that are quite similar doesn't mean it's a copy.

It has an original story line and some great characters and I would recommend it to any of my friends.

Oh and i don't know if anyone has said this before but the Eragon/Aragorn name thing - Eragon is just Dragon with a letter changed. it has nothing to do with Aragorn.

STEP OFF!!!!!
One of the best books I have ever read. good plot, good story line, good twist. and too anyone who does not like it,
1st of all if it's sooo bad why did you spend the time reading it.
2. I fully agree it's a cross between LotR and Pern. what book isent a copy of tolkin's. He set the foundation for most fiction as for harry potter, nothing like it. hp is a good book but too predictable.
3. every fiction book has the same basic controlls

hero. frodo, harry potter,...

mentor. Gandolf, dumbledor,...

bestfriend. sam, ron, ...

madien. arwen, choe.

villin. the dark lord, voltimort, ...

you find me one story that is diffrent!!!
If you dont like it why waste time trashing a book writen by a 15 year old. I'd like to see you do better.

Eragon
I just love the book! And I'll tell you why. I like Eragon's personality and I also like Saphira( I LOVE dragons!) To me Eragon doesn't seem like a normal person. Somehow he just seems so much different.
By the way, you wanted an age: I'm 12.

very good
he had to come up with eragon finding a dragon then coming up with the places then have the magic and ancient language. You have to ask yourself is if you could have come up with it yourself

Eragon Rocks
I think Eragon is 1 of the gratest books I've ever read, J.K can go nuts with her Harry Potter, but I ceriously think its to predictable. I like Eragon because it nice an long it is partly realistic and could have had the opportunity to eggzist. I think Cristopher Paolini must be one of the best authers I know. Being only 16! When I was Reading Eragon I coudn't stop other wise I thought I might miss part of it!

P.S could you pleas hurry up with Elders I'm nearly commiting suiside wating!

Eragon
I was waiting for the sixth Harry Potter book to come out and 16th book in the series W.i.t.c.h., and my friend recommend it. So, naturally I gave it shot. I loved it! I would read in my room and feel like I'm actually there, I sometimes completely forget my mom is calling me. True it had similarities to The Lord of The Rings, but it's the best. I can't wait till Eldest comes out! The author inspired me to write my own book!
