Pelzer does an amazing job in interpreting his awful past to his readers. "A Man Named Dave" is an incredable story that all should read. If he made it through the hard times, anyone can.

To comment on this book, i don't even know where to start. No flowery words could be used to describe his books. His stories are shockingly ugly but he beautifully conquered each obstacles. The dialogs are simple yet each refects the dynamic power of the voice of a child.... a worthy child Dave Pelzey. My respect to you sir for all that you have endured and done for millions of other abused children whose voice are yet to be hear...You are their voice.

These books woke me up. First of all I was outraged that any human being could and would actually damage another human being the way the mother and the family did to Dave, I understand and relate to his feelings he was faced with. I have had the understanding and experiences of many different forms of abuses in my life, and am now faced with my single life of loneliness, because of my history, I have learned the factor that Dave faced in his adult life. When your heart becomes hardened, it is a challenge and difficult to trust, and let people into your heart. I can certainly say I identify with his feelings. Dave, my hat off to you, I am inspired, and admire you because of your persistance, perserverance, couragousness, and strength to climb the highest mountains in life. I thank you for sobering me up with my own ignorances about my resistances to letting people in, knowing there is a difference of being taken advantage of, and allowing yourself to be loved at the same time. Thank you.

I would have to say that I believe in these books more than anything.I am 13,and my whole life I have had to deal with problems between me and my family, and when I read these books it encouraged me to keep going, and to make the best of everything I do.I know that I will probably never get to meet Dave Pelzer to tell him face to face, but I want to thank him.He wrote something that probably no body else would have the nerve to write.I encourage everyone to buy these books.

Throughout reading the first two novels I was sickned by the things that Dave's mother did to him. I couldnt believe that a mother would do the kind of things to their child as Dave's mother did to him. some of the things that Dave was put through don't seem real and it is only when I put the books down to so other things when I realised that all this abuse that Dave was getting actually happened.
All I can say is that even though I am only 16 I am proud of Dave for getting through his life so well.
I have wanted to become a firefighter since the age of 12 and Dave has enspired me not to give up.
Thankyou Dave.
