hey. My name is amanda. I am 15 years old and I am a freshman in high school. " a child called it" was one of the greatest books i have ever read. I used to be abused by my father. He used to drink all the time, and when he got drunk i would get beaten. It all started when our family moved to wisconsin. My father was very unhappy with his job and his life, and he took it out on me when he was drunk. At the end of 8th grade, i couldn't take it anymore. I tried to commit suicide. I slit my wrists open. luckily, my mom found me, and took me to the hospital. My dad then realized he had been being way too harsh on me. He knew he had to stop. He started going to therapy and stuff, and he hasn't hurt me, or drank since last may. This book was so inspiring to me. i can't believe that dave went through so much at such a young age. So thank you for writing that dave, and touching so many lives.

Hi i'm 20,and read all 3 books about a year ago,I would like to say a very heartfelt thanks to Dave for his wonderfully inspiring heartwrenching story. You really are a true inspiriation to so many people worldwide!! At times I cried and even now, almost a year later Dave's story never leaves you. I wasn't abused as a child, lets just say there's issues to be dealt with, which because of Dave's story i am able to do now.
Why a child should have to go through such an experience...we will never know! Someone is watching over you Dave, may only good things come your way!
Once again....Thank you for sharing your story, although im sure it wasn't an easy thing to do,reliving your past, you have helped soo many people to get through their own personal "story". Your raw honesty pulled at my heartstrings......
Thank You Dave...

Hi!!! My name is Brittany Lucas and I am 13 years old. I really liked this book because after reading the first two books I didn't think Dave was going to make it. This book taught me that you can make it through anything if you try hard enough. I thought I had been through a lot but Dave has been through something I could never imagine. I just want to say thank you to Dave Pelzer for writing such an inspirational book. Whenever I feel like things are not good for me I just think about what you went through and suddenly my problems don't seem very big anymore. I recommend anyone to read this book.

i have read all 3 of ur books, they are incrediblely well written, ur troubled past and heart rending story touch my heart deeply. i no sympathy will not help u in anyway, but my thoughts and feeling goe out to you david. i can not believe a person could do anything close to what "the mother" did to u. it makes me smile to know you found ur way in the end and have your own loving, wonderful family. i respect u so much, for over coming what you went through, no body should ever go through that, it was harrendous, thank you david for sharing a true life story with the world, and i hope the rest of your life is filled with constant happiness. good luck...

This is the third book that I have read by Dave. I have never been a reader of many books, but I have found myself reading three books in a week. Wow Wow and Wow!!! Thank you so much for sharing your life with others. It's through your words that I have found the strength to live. I love a little more and I hold my children and husband more then ever. Thank you for surviving so that others can do the same!!!

I read A Man Named Dave for a book report at school. I hate to read, but I have read every book that Dave Pelzer has written. To read about all that he has gone through has made me realize how lucky most of us are, but there are some people who are going throught the same situation which makes me realize how easily someone could get away with child abuse. Dave Pelzer has accomplished many aspects even after going through so much in his life and I believe that anyone can turn their life around if they really tried hard enough.
