How Cruel
I think it is so cruel and unnatural for a mother to hate her kid so much. I thought it was so heartless that she burnt his arm, shoved his brother's diaper in his face, and stabbed him (not on purpose- SHOCKER) but with what this child went through growing up I am so happy that he got over it.

all lies
First all this story is fake because the teacher didn't notice right away that he was abused. Until he got kicked out of school and put in a different school. Why would someone write this story after his parents died that is just sick. He is sick to his head. Plus the school board would have caught it right away. Here's hint dirty clothes, bruises, and stealing food from school and classmates. I could just see right through the author. He wants to be look at. That's why he wrote a Lie!!!

inspirational.
This book was recommended to me by one of my teachers in 8th grade. When she told me to read it I thought it would be boring and the same as any other book, but that night when I took it home and started it I found myself getting depressed and sympathetic for David. I could not put it down it took me about 3 days to read in between homework and projects, but after I read it I didn't feel depressed anymore... I felt more more inspired then I've ever felt in my entire life. It made want to, and still up to this day, want to pursue a career in being a social worker in child welfare to help in preventing this from happening to other children. Dave Pelzer is my one of my biggest hero's.

Strange yet Credible
I personally thought it was good, though I will admit slightly disturbing,if I may I would like to post a critic to Richard Berg, He says the the story is to embellished, yet I happen to think it was good stating that it was from the authors point of view, as for the reports, they weren't reported, due to his mother's manipulative ways, making people think that David was "Mentally Disturbed." no disrespect to the author intended.

A Child Called It
This book can show you how good most people really have and think that they are treated badly, I recommend this book to all teens to show them just how much they really have.

everyone is Wack.
Hi I'm 18, i love this book. Everyone should most definitely read this book. This is empowering, amazing, filled with hope hope and strength. Everyone that thinks this never happened is crazy. Yes kids lie, but why would he go through everything to get help? You have to think back in 1971 or whenever he was a kid, the school system wasn't really worried about signs of abuse like they are now. It really makes me mad when people from CPS are like this never happened. Maybe do your job and research it. Because I'm sure I am not the only person that feels like that. No wonder this world is so sick, because when a child is abused you guys think it didn't happen and send them back. THAT'S WHY CHILDREN DIE! FYI ... this topic really messes me up because for a couple years when I was younger like around 9-13 years old I was abused. Physically and mentally . So yes I have a lot to say about it. And I really hope this makes you guys think.

A Child Called It review
I highly recommend reading this book to see how child abuse can affect everyone. I liked the book because it made me see that no parent should treat their kid like David Pelzer's mother did to him. I give the book 4 and a half stars. This is a great book!
