A child called it
This book is like one of the best book I ever read in a long time, I hate to read but when I read this book I cry but its a really good book but sad. I went through almost half of the stuff David went through but with my dad instead of my mom. My mom is my best friend. I love this book I hope when people read this book and there going through this they can tell some one to get out of the houseHOLD.

A Child Called It
I absolutely loved this book. I also have continued to read all of his books. As I read it I felt emotional and as if I was there. The author put in great detail and I could feel his pain as I read along. I give this book 5 stars. IT TOTALY DESERVES IT!

changed my perspective
This book is awesome!! Its so sad to hear the struggling and embarrassment and harassement by his parents not to mention the school kids that made fun of him. But the second worst person of all in this book is the dad. He just stands there acting as if nothing is wrong promising that him and the boy will run away but never did. And what's really messed up is how much hatred the mom holds for David. I just don't understand how someone can be so cruel. Im so very thankful for my parents I'm 13 yrs.old and I really get this book

A child called
WOW! this book just blew my mind away! I just read it in high school and it is one of the most touching books that I have ever read before. i think that little kids that are in like elementary school should not read this book because they might not understand what is going on. It is one of the BEST books that I have read!!

Great Heartbreaking Story
Yes, this book is Great. I couldn't put it down and cried like a baby. I have read all of the reviews and also agree with the few that rated it low. The reason being that I kept waiting for more details on his family. I want to know WHY?? Why him and not the brothers. Why didn't his dad help more? What brought this on all of the sudden if life was perfect before? What I would really like to read is "David's mother, The Beginning." What would cause a mother to do this? How about his brothers? What is their view? This story is just so disturbing to me, a mother of three boy's whom I love with all my heart and soul, that I cannot get it out of my mind. So yes, it is a Great Book.

Happy Ending
I read this book in high school, my friend was crying one day in class and at break I asked her whats wrong and she read me a page and I though I should get the book and read the rest. I read the book and it broke my heart the only thing that cured me after reading this emotional book was that this boy survived and now he is a man and he is strong and able to tell his story of his very sad child hood. I wish I had this book to read to my friends because they think there parents are harsh to them but once they read this book they will be a lot more grateful. Awesome book though I dont liek reading but I just couldn't put this book down.

What an Amazing Story!
I just finished one of my education classes, and my teacher discussed this book in class. She suggested that we should read it. I went and I bought the book immediately. As I was reading this book I couldn't believe what I was reading. Tears ran all over my face. I thought what an incredible child to survive all that torture. This book is amazing and as an educator it made realized things that I never thought a child could go through. Believe me after reading this book I am going to be more alert about my students. This book has also taught me to be more compassionate toward children. From now on I will recommend this book and Dave's other books to my friends and teachers.
