The research and time spent in the writing of this book must of been enormous. It seems authentic, believable and romantic like a fairy tale at the same time. You fall in love with the characters and they seem like friends so you feel love nad compassion for them feel their pain, joy and jealously.

I liked this book, I couldn't put it down. It gave great insight into the Japanese culture and history, and was very descriptive, using vivid imagery. Golden allowed his readers to see the pressures of being a geisha and what they must endure. However I feel that it ended on an anti-climax. The book was interesting and eventful, but it seemed to build up to nothing.

I read Memoirs of a Geisha a year ago and one particular sentence caught my attention. I can never seem to forget at all. Goes something like this, I wish that time would start turning back...I wished so hard that if it had been possible, time would have started turning back just from the force of my hard wishing." I am not too sure if I have the exact words written, however, this line fully explanined her sense of helplessness and regret.

I enjoyed reading this book and found it very easy to read. My father was in Japan during the Korean War and sometimes referred
to the Geisha. So needless to say I was interested to actually read
about the life of one. The author makes you think a girl is actually
the author and you sympathize with her life. I kept reading just
to see if she gets what she wants. This book was very
quick to read. I read it in 2 days. I couldn't put it down.

So okay. It is good. But hey! They should have rated it R. Not that I care but what if little kids read it? But frankly, it really is good, I tell you. I recommend it to those who haven't read it yet. Though at the latter part there would some subtle adult scenes, well, it wouldn't matter if it wouldn't matter to the one reading it. It really was very easy to read and understand; I am only older than twelve and younger than fourteen as of present so I'm speaking as a really awed and surprised young girl who find 'Memoirs of a Geisha' enchanting and magnificent. Very great and fitting for a book report. People, read it!!!!!

Even though I am just 13 years old i found this book magnificent and riveting.

Unbelievable...great to read and very easy to understand and follow. Definatly recommend this to any book worm.

Sayuri tells her story with such gentle courtesy and determination that you are quickly brought under the spell of her character. She takes you by the hand and leads you into a world that is both formal and intimate, a world that I had only before glimpsed in the fleeting and beautiful images of traditional Japanese ink painting...Memoirs of a Geisha is a wonderful achievement.
