I have to say and have told everyone that this is the most fantastic book that I have ever read!! I have only 8 chapters to finish and am sad that the book is ending..so I am savoring each chapter. Arthur Golden writes in such a fashion that the era of the book absolutely makes no difference for those that would read the book jacket and see "poor fishing village in 1929" if anything the it is a must read for the culture that is taught thru out the book. And how the book makes you feel as you read it like you are there seeing everything and living thru the characters in the book!! I purchased the book and am delighted I will have it to share and reread when I want!! My only disappointment is that I cannot find where Mr. Golden has written any other books. I was so hoping to read another of his masterpieces!!

A lovely tale of a Kyoto geisha's discipline and endurance.
The finest steel is tempered in the hottest fire. And dreams do come true.

Memoirs of geisha is a brilliant book depicting the story of a young girl growing up to become a geisha is the district Gion of Kyoto. The book is written such a way that you feel as you are see the world through Sayuri's life through her hardships and happiness. I highly recommend this book, despite its slight flat ending, though this is deffiantly made up by the rest of the book. Lets hope Arthur Golden has a few more hidden surprises up his sleeves.

i loved it, beautifully written and unique, with so much emotion involved. While reading this book anyone will feel as if they have entered into another world. A world that is now slightly dissapearing. Read it and you'll believe me when i say that it is the most fantastic book .ever
