i HAD to read this book for my freshmen english class in college. At first I thought it had to much detail, but as I begun to read more, the detail drew you into the book. I thought this was a great book.

Snow Falling On Cedars, is not just a story of a romance, but of prejudice, chance and of deep inner love. With the intricate plot set during and after World War II, the author reveals to the reader how white Americans treat Japanese Americans with their hatred and prejudice. This novel truly describes the nature of mankind and of their mistrust of others differing from themselves. Snow Falling On Cedars, is a beautiful story of a man trying to seek his way in a hateful world and I strongly suggest you read this novel.

Snow Falling on Cedars is a book which captures the mind and allows you to see things from another perspective other than your own. David Guterson shows American society in ways which are not always shown. The book is a great one to study and a fantastic read! ....A Fantastic and enchanting book!

I agree that David Gutterson's 'Snow Falling on Cedars' is a fabulous book and although i had to read it for school, i enjoyed it so much and all the people that said that they didn't like it probably had a bad teacher who didn't inspire them. It is a story with so much depth and meaning, it gives us a strong message that should not be ignored and is captivating and extrimly well written

I was utterly captivated by Guterson's Snow Falling on Cedars. Guterson's eloquent description and intense character portrayals created a passionate, heartwarming story about truth, love, justice and human emotion. I couldn't put the book down.

Overall, good
Admittedly, the beginning nearly turned me off. But once I got through the opening, I did not want to put it down. The book keeps you guessing, and the pages keep turning.

I thought that Snow Falling on Cedars was an amazing book. I originally read it for my english project because i knew that it was a movie i could watch instead of reading the whole thing, but once i started it, i had to keep going.
David Guterson is a fantastic writer, who's ability to make characters come to life realling shines in this novel.
I really enjoyed this book and i recommend it to anyone who likes a courtroom drama.

I read this book after having seen the movie. The intimate, personal nature of the community in which the events occurred drew me in and I appreciated the author's descriptive passages. I learned quite a bit from the author's personalization of events that had happened before my time. It made them seem more vivid and real to me.
The suspenseful nature of the plot also helped keep me interested. It's not easy for an author to balance the different perspectives of the characters in a story without portraying people as 'good guys' and 'bad guys' but the author made me feel that his characters were human, fallible, and emotionally vulnerable by revealing their inner thoughts without revealing too much about the eventual outcome.
In public school, I didn't enjoy history because I had teachers who never went beyond making us memorize names and dates. I would have enjoyed the subject much more if I had been encouraged to read books like this story of the human heart wrapped within the framework of historical events.
