Everything's a lie
Chris Stewart is absolutely wrong in his descriptions of the place. It seems that here we live in the third world and that everybody is an uncultivated and impolite peasant. And there are a lot of more mistakes made by this author that I will not mention as my English is not too good.

I was offered the book to read from both my mother and mother in law when I suddenly announced I was going to move to Spain. Being a "dealer" myself not in sheep but in Furniture and commercial vehicles I felt akin with Chris's Plight at the Auction. Best book since Gorky Park.

This book should not be missed. I confess I am not much more than a 'buy a book when travelling' type of reader, but even so that still means half a dozen books a year or so.
I felt I was there I could see the hills, the olive trees, the bridge, the river, the sheep, and now I really want to meet Domingo. I could taste the food smell the wines. I take my hat off to Mr Chris Stewart for producing a book that is to date the most enjoyable book I have ever read.
