I just read this book in school as part of the Read Across the Schools program. All juniors are reading Wish You Well this year, and I'm incredibly thankful for the shove into this reading. Baldacci's method of writing made it easy to become involved with the characters, and kept surprises coming around every chapter.

Text
Wish You Well is a beautifully written novel very different from Baldacci's other books, filled with characters about whom you will care about, a setting that is magical as well as appropriate for this coming-of-age family story. A great read!

I had fun reading this book for school. It had some unexpected twists that made the book even better.

I just got done reading a book by David Baldacci called Wish You Well. I loved it, not because it's a suspense thriller but because the description on how they lived back in the 1940s. It made me realize how much technology we have now compared to what they had back then. I would definitely recommend this book to anyone who is interested in knowing how the past was like. I thought it quite amazing how Lou-one of the main characters slowly but surely adjusts to the farm cabin that she and her brother are stuck with for the rest of their lives. However, it is extraordinarily sad how the children end up in the cabin. Lou struggles with adjusting to her whole different environment knowing that her father is dead from a horrible accident and the mother is in a catatonic state.
I find it truly amazing how I was able to catch on and enjoy the book even though it had to deal with how people survived in the past. Baldacci details his words as well by implying how people had to wash their clothes by wash board, gather wood for the fire place every morning, plant their usual crops every year and pray to God they came in okay, and not to mention having to sacrifice for heat, eating, and water during the cold, brisk winters.
It's interesting to know that people back in the 1940s and even before that developed history and new technologies that we have now to make our lives easier.

I laughed and cried reading this book. The author captured the struggles and strength of this little girl. This book keeps you thinking well after you have finished the story. It is a book I will keep and read again. Baldacci is proving to be one of my favorite authors.

I enjoyed this book so very much, that I will probably give it as a Christmas present to a few select friends.
