This was my first Baldacci novel and I loved it! Can't wait for the next.

What a wonderful story. I felt transported to rural Virginia. A wonderful diversion from the hustle and bustle of the big city.

Without a doubt this is one of the greatest books I have ever read.
This is a wonderful story of the strength of family and life. Members of my family grew up in the depression and as I read this book, I kept thinking about the stories of struggle and hardship they went through to survive; but also, of how they would stick together in a crisis. Being raised in and living in Virginia all my life, I know of the way of life in the mountains in the southwestern area. This book is ready for a "Hallmark" movie. Encouraging my daughter to read it!

Great Book
It was a really good book. Fast paced, lots of unexpected events. The problem was, it was so sad.... :( Nearly cried with the deaths that happened. They shouldn't have happened. And I wish they never did.

YA Baldacci
If you are a middle-schooler, then this a good story of triumph with insight into the hard times of mountain living. If you are a critical reader looking for something that is not predictable, trite, and sappy, this is not worth your time.

An interesting plot but very simply written with an obvious outcome. Tries to build suspense but the ending is clearly going to be like a fairy-tale.

I liked this book but the ending was too predictable, I was hoping for an unexpected twist!
