Constance Kopp the gutsy heroine from Girl Waits With Gun is back in the second Kopp Sisters series. The novel is much like the first: engaging and charming. Those who enjoyed the adventures of the Kopp sisters will be thrilled with this installment. Don't miss the author's notes at the end of the novel as the story is based on real events. The historical information adds to the entertaining tale.

This is the second Kopp novel. It can be read alone but it would be better if read after Girl Waits With Gun, the first in the series which introduces the Kopp family and detail how and why Constance is determined to support her family and the difficulties she encountered living in a company town. In both books the author has "historically correctly" captured a time period. A time before women had the vote, a time when if a woman was a police woman she received no salary "but served out of a sense of duty". An enlightening look at life for working class women and the difficulties they faced at the beginning of the 20th century. And how with the help of one man, who is willing to risk it all, brought about some needed changes. This is an easy and fast read written for anyone who enjoys learning about a way of life happily long gone. The epilogue details fact from fiction in the book which is most helpful. I only wish a map of the towns in New Jersey where it takes place had been included.

The Kopp Sisters' lives are a fun, light read. Amy Stewart has a good sense of humor, and she does a great job on dialogue. The historical setting is interesting; first woman cop in Paterson, NJ, women cannot vote yet. The fact that these sisters did exist is very appealing. The conversations between everyone is the most enjoyable part. Looking forward to the next book.

Lady Cop Makes Trouble is a fun, light mystery set in 1915 New Jersey. Based on a true story, Constance Kopp is one of the first female police officers in a time when women didn't have the vote and career options were very limited. In this, the second book in the series, her position is in jeopardy and she spends her time trying to track down a criminal. It's a quick, enjoyable read and it is not necessary to have read the first book in the series.

It is fun to once again visit the world of Constance Kopp and the jail in Paterson, NJ. These stories are so fun because of the characters but also because they are largely based on real events. I love reading the author's notes at the end almost as much as the story.

In this story we find Constance kicking butt and tackling bad guys. She is determined to get her Deputy's badge and we are surely all cheering for her to succeed. In the days when female law enforcement officers are unheard of, following the story of Constance's success sheds light on the obstacles standing in her way.

I think this second book in the series is even better than the first. Can't wait to see what comes next for the Kopp sisters. Maybe in the next outing we will learn more of Fleurette and her dreams of stage and fashion.

This was a delightful and fun read of Constance Kopp and her determination to go against the grain of the male police force in Bergen County to prove her worth as a lady cop.

Constance, along with Sheriff Health - her strongest supporter - literally tackle a case of an escaped prisoner with her sister's ingenuity and Constance's fierce drive to get this character back in custody. The story's characters are sometimes a bit quirky but it works to see how they all - or most of them - are supporting Ms. Kopp in her quest to beat the good old boy system and earn her badge.

Having read Girls Waits With Gun, and having enjoyed Constance Kopp prove her worthiness in law enforcement , I was disappointed in the authors second attempt in Lady Cop Makes Trouble. I found it perhaps a hundred pages too long for the plot and story. Once again Sheriff Heath seems to be the only one who has confidence in her abilities, yet is powerless with the higher authorities to make her the first female deputy, so Constance allows herself to be used as the jail keeper until some agreement, if ever, is reached to make her a member of the police department. I would recommend that the reader acquaint themselves with the character Constance and her family by reading the authors previous novel first or they may be slightly confused on the background story.

This book was more like a cozy mystery for young adults. Being an enjoyer of the mystery genre, I found this book not to be my cup of tea. There really was minimal suspense, and the characters were not very deep. Dealing with the turn of century topic of a woman aspiring to be a cop about the time women's suffragette movement was gaining steam lacked authenticity. Just a simple plot, simple characters, and not much to keep one interested. Sorry, this just wasn't for me.
