Nature vs Nurture -- or does it matter
When "nature" and "nurture" run amok and the resulting adults meet and marry, what evil is created? Do we really know our neighbors and friends?
These are just a few concerns this book raises. I really enjoyed reading this book and found the author dealt with a difficult topic in a skilled manner.
The book is a page turner even to the last shocking sentence. Highly recommend it.

A Winner!
I loved this book! I couldn't put it down! Who is manipulating who? Just when I thought I knew everything that was going on, I found out I didn't! If you like psychological thrillers, this book is for you! It would make a great book club discussion book. I will recommend "My Lovely Wife" to all my reader friends!

A Wild Ride!
This is one wild ride of a read! Compelling, creepy and twisted, this story will get into your head and have you questioning everyone in the story...and everyone out of it.

With exception...
I enjoyed reading this" beach read". It was engaging. and moved with twists and turns that the reader never anticipated. I am concerned, however, that the subject matter could be misconstrued as viable. I believe in our right to say and write what we want to; however the line is very fine between fiction and non-fiction in this book. This is a concern to me.

Not for the Faint of Heart
I had a hard time getting into My Lovely Wife. I don't have to necessarily like the characters to like or love a story ... but these characters are so distasteful right from the start that I had to force myself to keep reading. This is definitely a walk on the darker side of human nature so I would advise readers who are a bit on the squeamish side to proceed with caution. I love a good thriller but had difficulty connecting to the story itself. I guess I prefer a more balanced narrative as opposed to one that's so dark and depraved. This is a book that definitely stayed with me ... I kept telling myself that this is a work of fiction and that something like this couldn't 'really' happen ... until I caught some of the latest headlines and was (once again) reminded that we never 'really' know what lies beneath the pleasant smiles and polite small-talk we exchange with our neighbors.......

Twisted, disturbing page turner!
I read this book in one day. Ok, I admit it was travel day, flying to Italy, so I had plenty of time to read, but this book made me not mind the hours of sitting in airports! It was the only book I brought on the trip and when my husband saw I was getting close to the end of the book, he suggested I save it for the flight home. NO WAY was I going to wait 10 days to see how this book ends!!
This is a disturbing story of a seemingly "normal" couple who "get off" on finding women they can kill. It is a very creepy premise, but it is not graphic , which I appreciated. The wife is a psycho, much like in Gone Girl. The ending is unexpected, though considering the couple, nothing should come as a surprise! It is sure to be made into a movie.

My Lovely Wife
Splendid novel! This thriller kept be enthralled to the end.. It truly was hard to put down. The characters were well drawn and the plot line had many twists and turns. The only reason I didn't give it a "5" rating was because the premise was quite disturbing. It didn't stop me from finishing the novel though! I will be on the look-out for Samantha Downing's next novel

Creepy to start, crazy twists by end, 4 stars.
I almost rejected reading this book a few chapters in. As much as I like a good psychological thriller, a husband and wife recreational killing team isn't tops on my list. HOWEVER, without giving away any secrets, the few twists and turns that occurred midway through caught me by surprise and I couldn't put the book down until the end.
