a little offputting
The first 200 pages were so so slow. I liked the issues included in the book but it was not enough to hold my interest. Maybe I am fortunate but I see people change for the best daily in the town where I live. Thank you for the opportunity to read the book.

welcome to the pine away motel and cabins
This definitely was not my cup of tea. I usually give a book fifty pages ...this one I gave 250 pages before I gave up. I am not crazy about dead narrators. I kept hoping I would get a better feeling for the characters but that didn't happen.I had such high hopes for this second book. I loved the first one about librarians on horseback.
I am sorry that I couldn't praise it.
Thank you for this opportunity...I'm a retired adult service librarian.
One positive note:the translator was excellent.

Pining Away for a Better Story
Surprised that the main character in this book has died. She worked in a motel her whole life and now is helping her friends and father deal with her death. The story really drags in the middle and I almost didn't finish it but lasted to end to see if it got any better. Just not a favorite.

Interesting point of view
This book reminded me of The Lovely Bones in that it is told in the point of view of the dead protagonist.
Whether or not one believes in an afterlife or ghosts, it would be interesting to know the impact one's life had had on other people and what they had really thought of one.
I found the characters a little flat and hard to relate to, but overall this was an okay read but not sure I would recommend it
