Lexi wants to heal people
Lexi is a top seller at a real estate company and is set to go higher up the corporate ladder. However, while accepting another award she's overcome with the sensation of drowning when she makes eye contact with a Stranger. This is the beginning of Lexi's personal quest of healing herself so that she will be able to heal others. She learns to tap into others energy and read their aura which also tells her a lot about the person. But, this story is Lexi's story and is focused on her own healing journey.

Saturn Return
Having never heard of the Saturn return nor of the impact of the elements on one's life, this book was both an enjoyable and informative read. Lexi has it all, a good job where she is very successful, good friends and a loving husband. When some weird experiences begin to happen to her, she seeks out an explanation from the neighbor "witch" Bea. Bea helps her to understand her individual elements and how to harness them. Through her work with Bea, Lexi is able to resolve some old family issues. She is also able to help her husband, Shane, find the core of his fear of loneliness. This book is quite an adventure. Lexi soon learns that her life should be what she wants it to be. She begins to understand her choices should always be hers and only hers. I liked the ending where things appear to come full circle. Quite a different book. I have not read a novel like this before. It made me seek out additional information about Saturn return. Also, it reinforced the belief that we must take and be in control of our own lives. Simply loved the character development. Everything We Never Knew by Julianne Hough and Ellen Goodlett is a vastly different and very enjoyable read.

Sweet summer reading
This was a sweet book in that it explored astrology, coming into one's own and learning to take chances. It just didn't pull me in. I understood her concerns of occurrences that she couldn't explain but the main character seemed to lack a reason for everything. She wasn't sure of her husband, her girlfriends, the "witchy" teacher. It lagged quite a bit for me and I failed to connect or feel any empathy for the protagonist.

Everything We Thought We Knew Turned Upside Down
I have just enough interest in and fascination with the paranormal (for want of a better term) to have enjoyed this book. Lexi's adventures in spiritual healing and her perseverance despite the skepticism of family and friends, were admirable. I enjoyed the colorful character of Bea and the nurturing character of Holly most of all. Lexi's husband Shane annoyed me most of all. We all know folks who can't tolerate change, but he seemed particularly obnoxious specimen of the type. I cheered for Lexi as she undertook her new career path. This might be a good book for reading groups; there's a little bit of something for everyone.

Skeptical but Curious
This is not a book I would have picked up on my own, but "Free Books to Request" gives me the opportunity to try something new and different. Everything We Never Knew broadened my view of astrological phenomena and kinetic energy fields. However, I found the healing session descriptions over-dramatic and unbelievable. I think the book's greatest strength was in the well-written dialogue. The face-to face conversations and confrontations between the various characters made them feel real. I liked that everything was not tied up neatly at the end of the story. Lexi's journey of self discovery was positive and hopeful. However, her relationships with others would continue to be a work in progress throughout her life. What interested me most was how the book was written. Did Julianne supply the plot ideas, with Ellen doing the writing or was it a different process altogether? The conversation and acknowledgements at the end of the book did not make this clear.

Everything We Never Knew
I will preface this review by stating I am Leary of books written by 2 authors/ghostwriter. Beginning caught my attention but dragged on. I had difficulty finishing.

Everything We Never Knew
On a scale from 1-5 (5 being excellent), I would give "Everything We Never Knew" a 3. The storyline is unique to me and that is something I like when choosing a book. The main character (Lexi is well developed and has feelings I can empathize with. Some of the other characters are less developed, but the story is about Lexi, so that makes sense. There are moments of suspense, so the story kept me engaged throughout the novel. Many of the themes are ones that women would find interesting, such as: acceptance, personal development and growth, spiritualism, family matters and traumas, and female friendships.

Because the book is about healing through observance of auras, this book may not be believable to the general public. I think the best audience would be in their 20s-30s (like the protagonist and primarily women. I probably would not recommend this book to my book clubs, The women in these groups are older and may not be interested or relate to the subject matter of the book.

Bland
Everything We Never Knew is the type of book with topics and themes I'm generally attracted to…metaphysical, new age, and characters that experience unexplainable phenomena. However, I couldn't get hooked. The writing was bland. I yearned for more descriptive details of Lexi's otherworldly experiences. The writing did not suck me into the story. Everything We Never Knew was a meh read for me.
