Light Humor
This was a quick read. A humorous, well-told story that moves along quickly. At times it bordered on the ridiculous, but as the antagonist is supposed to be crazy, I just shrugged it off. I think this is what is called a "summer read" or a beach book. I enjoyed it overall.

The Marriage of True Minds
This off-beat story of 2 divorced attorneys kept my interest. The author is able to give his main characters quick dialog and funny conversation. The story of Nick Ward's attempt to deal with his divorce from Lena, and escalating bizarre behavior, will keep the reader entertained. This is not a long or powerful book, but a pleasant vacation from our own day-to-day life.

For a good time...
This book is fun. It's literary slapstick. The dialogue is clever and witty, and definitely contrived, but you are willing to overlook that because, well, it's just such fun. I couldn't help but begin casting characters for the movie. If you are looking for a deeply moving, profound treatise on animal rights, you better look elsewhere, but if you want a quick read that will entertain, this is your book.

The Marriage of True Minds
I found this to be a quick and enjoyable, although not great, read. The characters are quirky and interesting -- some of the 'minor' characters really flesh the story out -- but it remains at heart a fairly simple love story. There are some interesting legal and psychological issues that could be explored in a book club setting but, for the most part, the book is more likely to be of interest to individuals rather than groups.

So-so read
I really liked the premise of this book, so I was surprised when I didn't like the book itself. I love books with humor, but found things like the puppet just sort of stupid. The ideas were great, but this just wasn't for me.

Nothing great....
The Marriage of True Minds was nothing great. Initially, I wasn't sure that I would be able to finish it but plugged along because I knew that I had to. I couldn't help feeling like I was reading a movie script with Jim Carey cast as the main character. In spite of that ( or perhaps because of it! ), I managed to finish the book in a few days. It was a light, easy, funny read with a somewhat interesting story line but nothing very deep or surprising.

A different little book
I had trouble deciding whether I liked this book, or not. I still haven't decided. It isn't very long, and it isn't difficult reading. It has many attributes but, having said that, it almost seemed like a pointless story. I liked the characters and the dialog was sometimes funny and sometimes very touching. I read a lot and many books stay with me for days and a few, even a lifetime. This will not be one of those books. Frankly, I wouldn't have appreciated paying $14.95 for this book even if "a portion of the profits will be donated to Best Friends Animal Society." You would be better off donating the money directly if you wanted to help animals. I hate saying this about any book, but it seemed to me to almost be a waste of time reading it.

Make a great sitcom!
I really don’t like to give poor book reviews and frankly this isn’t really a poor storyline, it just would be a better screenplay than a novel. The novel does have a good message about animal adoption and no-kill shelters, though it took awhile to get to the message. The characters are very one-dimensional; at best we get a one line description of their clothing or a brief mention of their hairstyle, but not enough to be able to formulate a complete character picture. Some of the dialogues make no sense (i.e. Nick & Oscar at the lake) and while they are often incredibly witty, the comedic wit would be better suited for a visual performance than a novel. I would love to see some of Evans original works on film or stage!!
