A Winner
Congratulations to Linda Fairstein for a wonderful book. An excellent mystery mixed with more information on New York, American history, sexual predators, and investigational procedure than you may ever want to know. There is even a little romance thrown in. It sounds like a hodge podge, but Fairstein's writing style makes it a real page turner. This would be a great choice for a long, cold weekend as long as you keep your doors locked.

Killer Heat
In her 10th legal thriller, Linda Fairstein relies on New York City history, legal issues, and forensic details to hold the reader's interest. Alex Cooper is winding up an old rape case solved by DNA evidence when she learns of a body in an abandoned building. Investigating with sidekicks Mike and Mercer, she soon learns of a second body and begins to develop a profile of the killer. While exploring possible motives they also explore several islands in the harbor, and the reader learns of their history. New information leads to a third body and a race against time to prevent a fourth.
Readers who have read earlier books in the series will enjoy the familiar characters, and the development or a possible romance for Alex. We learn more about the legal system and the location. All of these combine to be a most rewarding read.

Killer Heat
Whether Alex Cooper is an old friend or a new acquaintance, you will love this book! Alex deals with everything from a cold case to a few new cases. Linda Fairstein is a pro at intermingling the job of Assistant District Attorney with the detectives on the front line. This is a great novel for those who love a straight-forward mystery.

A Must Read for Mystery Fans!
Linda Fairstein's 20 plus years in the Manhattan D.A.'s Sex Crimes Unit brings a chilling reality to her newest book. Just when you think you know where the author is headed, she throws in yet another twist for you to ponder. And in fact, just maybe one of her twists will be the basis for a new novel!
I especially liked her info on rape shield laws and the mini history lesson on New York waterways during the Revolutionary and Civil Wars.
I highly recommend this book, perhaps Fairstein's best to date!

Killer Heat Kills in A Good Way!
Let me start out with the words every book reader wants to hear... Great Ending!! The author keeps the reader enthralled throughout the book throwing in clues here and there towards her finale. The last 15 pages are by far the best I have read in a long time. The only negative is the history she shares about New York may leave some non blue-blooded New Yorkers yawning a little. Killer Heat was a great read with a killer ending (get it killer ending because it is a book about a killer... get-it)..... oh well would definitely read the author again!

Killer Heat
Although this is the first Alex Cooper novel I have read it won’t be the last. Many heroines come across as almost superhuman but Alex doesn’t overcome every obstacle alone. She counts on the friendships she has established to support her many talents, including in and out of the courtroom. Much of this novel portrays her willingness to investigate a terrifying serial killer from the back streets of Manhattan to the intriguing islands that surround it. Since I grew up in the general area and my Dad was full time Army, the inclusion of New York City history, especially focusing on the military security connection, was both surprising and welcome.
One aside, I did think it a bit contrived for Kitty Kallin to advance the story plot as far as the character was able but I thought the Latin Prince element did keep one guessing about the eventual outcome. I hope to read more of Ms. Fairstein in the future and recommend the book without reservation.

Killer Heat by Linda Fairstein
Killer Heat is one of those riveting books that makes you want to ignore your family, skip your job and stay up until midnight reading to the very end! Linda Fairstein has consistently proven herself to be a top-notch suspense author in the vein of Patricia Cornwell or Kathy Reichs. Her plotlines are fast-paced but believable and her characters are richly drawn and endearing. Well, not the bad guys! Linda does an excellent job of keeping us guessing until the end. I would recommend this book to anyone who loves to read!
