Terrific Surprise!
I hadn't realized that this book was part of a continuing series when I requested it. I prefer to read a series in order, and while this is the 19th entry in the Alan Banks series, I'm happy to say that it works very well as a stand alone book. I did not feel cheated that I didn't know any of the backstory for each character.

The story grabbed me from the first page and never let go. it is an outstanding example of a British police procedural with an interesting story line, believable characters, and solid police work.

I was so impressed with Peter Robinson's writing and his characters, that I picked up 10 of his earlier books over the weekend. Thanks BookBrowse, for the introduction to a terrific new author.

Very highly recommended for all lovers of crime fiction, mysteries and thrillers.

Bad Boy
Another great Inspector Banks book! In this book Inspector Banks' complex character is made even more so by the involvement of his daughter as one of the victims. This book is a real page turner and one of Robinson's best. Highly recommended for all mystery/thriller lovers.

A new treasure discovered
After achieving a moment of epiphany one calm and contemplative evening in the Arizona desert, Yorkshire DCI Alan Banks returns to England where his new found balance is immediately tested. His home is marked a crime scene. A close colleague and former lover lies near death in the hospital. His daughter is either on the run with, or a hostage of, a drug dealing killer. And he encounters his primary enemy in the police force who seems determined to undermine his efforts to solve the crimes. Subtle, well drawn characters and depth of plot development are displayed in Bad Boy the latest DCI Brandt police procedural by Peter Robinson. This is the first book that I have read in this series, but I have now collected all that I could find and look forward to many evenings of enjoyment. If you do not yet know DCI Banks, I urge you to read this book and discover him.

"Bad Boy" = GREAT Read!
This is the best Inspector Banks book in years, which is saying a great deal - because this whole series is excellent. I was absolutely riveted from the beginning. Characters (new and existing) were fully-fleshed and believable. Suspense ran extremely high and the action seemed to never stop. Don't start reading this book unless you are prepared to put everything else aside until you finish.

Bad Boy Good Read
Although I have not read this Peter Robinson series before, I was able to jump right into this story. The plot, although not complex, was well-written. I hate when fictional novels, especially mysteries, have their characters doing improbable actions. It is interesting to note the subtle differences between British police procedure and American procedure. The multiple father-daughter angles both rang true, as well as the ethical duplicity an inspector must experience when you don't know if your daughter is a perpetrator or a victim. Good Read.

Bad Boy by Peter Robinson
This is the first Inspector Banks novel that I have read. I did enjoy it after the characters became familiar to me. I found the first few chapters a bit confusing and had to return to pages read to place the characters. Once I got beyond that point it was a fun read and I would definitely recommend the story to others and would read more of the Inspector Banks series.

Bad Boy
I enjoyed this book. It was fast paced and kept me wondering what was going to happen till the very end. I liked the way the author told the story from the different character's viewpoints. I thought the ending could have been a bit more definitive. What happened to Tracy? Off scot free? Did Annie's surgery work? The book was well written and engaging but I felt the author should have answered a few more questions at the end. A good summer read!

Bad boys can be alluring
In this latest entry in the Inspector Banks series, Banks' daughter Tracy finds herself mixed up with a "bad boy". The book is an entertaining police procedural with a personal touch. This was the first of Robinson's books that I have read although I have often heard of him. The book does stand alone, but I felt I missed a great deal by not being more familiar with the characters and their interaction.
