I really would give this book 4 1/2 stars. Even though it was a bit unbelievable the story sure held your interest. I thought I was doing really well figuring it out and then would be proved wrong time after time - almost too many twists and turns. The most fun and perplexing is figuring out who is writing the diary on the side. I got that wrong too! An absolutely fun read and one I would recommend.

A book that keeps you guessing all the way through. There were so many facets to keep you intrigued with figuring out "who done it" and the author twists and turns the story at every opportunity. The characters were interesting and well developed. The author descriptions were vivid so that I had a mental picture of each character. I had to go back and re-read some of the parts after I finished to fill in the blanks of the side story. Certainly, there will be a lot of comparisons to the dark story in Gone Girl. I would certainly recommend this book to others that like a lot of intrigue in their fiction.

The scene opens in the book with a couple going for consult on further fertility measures. We find out that previous ones haven't worked and that Gen had lost a child in stillbirth eight years previously. Art, the husband, is a highly successful businessman, who works in investments that are ethical and socially and environmentally responsible. He is on the verge of moving into high government circles. Gen is a published writer who has done very little writing since the loss of her child. The plot is extremely convoluted and to try to explain it would be giving away too much. This is the main reason that I give this a 4 instead of a 5. That being said, this was a very good read. The author kept me on the edge and guessing for most of the book....almost to the last pages.

This is one of those books that I think of as brain candy. It doesn't require much effort and is very entertaining. Yes, you do have to suspend your disbelief, but if you can do that, you're in for an enjoyable read as the plot twists and turns and each character seems potentially shadier than the one before. I expect to see this one made into a movie--either on Lifetime or in the theater. Could go either way.

This novel gripped me from the very beginning and often kept me reading way past my bedtime. I found myself accurately predicting some aspects of the plotline while also being highly suprised with others. It's a really interesting and suspenseful read that kept me hooked until the very last page.

Is Gen crazy for thinking that those around her are keeping secret ? It has been a rough few years for Gen since losing her baby and she is starting to feel like she is ready to start living again until she is given information that her baby might still be alive.

This story kept me on the edge of my seat with fully developed characters and a great story line. I would recommend this book to anyone who is looking for a book to keep you up at night because it is too good to put down.

I would actually give this a 4 and 1/2 rating if I could. When I wasn't reading this book, I wanted to be reading it! It is fast-paced with an underlying urgency and a sweeping suspense that carried me along, even over a few of the rough spots that kept me from giving this a 5 rating. If you're in the mood for a mystery/thriller, definitely pick this up.

Gen is married to Art. Eight years ago she lost her baby as a stillborn or so she believes. For eight years she has whined, wept and hoped, not living her life.
If you can get through the first 100 pages or so of this book you'll find the character development superb, the plot twisty and suspenseful and very gratifying.
It just takes a while to get there and at times you'll wonder why Art or Gen's friends and family haven't insisted on therapy or hospitalization to help her through the quick sand of grief in which she is stuck.
I do wonder though when I give a book like this a 4 where would I rate something like Wuthering Heights or The Invisible Bridge? I think we need a wider number spread as on a scale of 1-10. I might then put this as a 7.
