I expected this book just to be funny. What a surprise to find it poignant as well. The characters were well developed and there were surprises along the way. What chance would there be that there would be two women in the same town in Iowa by the same name winning a million dollar house? My favorite character in this fast moving book was Aunt Midge. She added many sad and hilarious moments that made you think. Great first book.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book and plan on recommending it to my friends. The writing was sharp and entertaining and I liked ALL the characters which rarely happens. It deals with human nature, relationships and the importance of family or more correctly, the making of family. I look forward to reading more by this author.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book. It's a light, pleasant read, a perfect beach book. If you have always wondered what happens to the "HGTV Dream House" contestants and you love to cook this book is for you. It has broad appeal for so many readers. It is the perfect "escape" book. Put your feet up, pour a glass of wine, relax and enjoy "The Good Luck Girls…." I can't wait to read Ms. Harms next book.

Two girls named Janine Brown...one enters a contest to win a fabulous house in Maine; the other's aunt enters her name, without her knowledge. The first is SURE she is going to win it, but it turns out that the other one does.

Both girls go to claim the house, and things get dicey, when they meet up. The book keeps you hooked, as you read along, waiting for things to blow up. Both girls have image problems, and there are love interests for both of them as well.

The aunt, Midge, is a funny gal...quirky and stabilizing at the same time. I really enjoyed the book and couldn't put it down, till I finished it. It is a light read, which is something most of us need now & then. Those who like romance will like it, but the story behind the girls' lives is what makes it a good book, so don't let that put you off.

This is the perfect summer beach read..not too light with well developed characters...Kelly harms "Good Luck Girls of Shipwreck Lane" reminded me of reading Jennifer Weiner's " Good In Bed" one wonderful summer.. I was thinking about the good luck girls even when I put the book down. Enjoy!

Two young women from the same city with the same name and that very name is called as the winner of an amazing house giveaway...what are the chances? I almost cringed when I started this; I knew it'd be either really good or a pure and total letdown...and SO GOOD it was! Shades of early Fannie Flagg, funny, humorous and heartwarming, with characters you want to invite over for a barbeque and beers. The only slight issue I have with this good time of a novel is that both women had "gorgeous guy" encounters almost immediately, in small town Maine..I mean really, what are the chances?

A perfect beach read, this book hooked me almost from the first page. As a fan of both cooking shows and dream home contests, I couldn't help but love the premise of the book. The characters reminded me of some of my friends and co-workers, which made the book even more enjoyable. I will certainly recommend this book to anyone looking for a fun, summer read!

As a foodie, I enjoyed the quotes at the beginning of each chapter from various top notch cookbooks. Any foodie would enjoy the cooking references throughout the book. Initially, I was not drawn to either of the main characters of The Good Luck Girls of Shipwreck Lane. I love Aunt Midge and her attitude about life and the way she helped those she loved work through the troubles they have. Somewhere in the middle of the story, I was drawn into the lives of Janey and Nean. While not a substantial literary read, it is enjoyable and would provide good discussion about life choices, honesty, forgiveness, and second chances.
