Mating for Life from multiple points of view
I enjoy books where different characters share their individual perspectives on the same situation and have different takes on it. This books does this with 3 sisters, their mother and others. I also appreciated that not everyone had a happy ending but were still able to move forward.
Book clubs would find great discussions around the characters, their choices and their relationships.
There was a little bit of random new agey stuff that didn't seem to fit but it didn't make the story stray too far.

Mating for Life, an enjoyable book
I totally enjoyed reading "Mating for Life". I laughed during some parts and cried during others. All the characters seemed real to me. Each had their own different perspective on life. I think it would be a great book club book because I can see each character in some of the members.

Learning to Love Yourself First
This book has wonderful women characters who are all looking for love and meaning in their lives. I could see parts of myself in each of these women. Good exploration of mother/daughter relationships,sister relationships and how the absence of their fathers impacted their choices in both life and love. I also enjoyed the mating rituals of animals explained at the beginning of each chapter.

Feels like Life!
This book had characters who felt like people I know with problems we all can see in our lives. It was well written and kept me interested enough to read it in one sitting ( on a trip home from a vacation when I had other stuff I was supposed to finish). It's definitely "chick lit" but a step above average with many thought provoking themes about family loyalty, loyalty and love, the work of sustaining a relationship and the many roles we all have in life.

What is true love. The author introduces us to the many aspects of love in family relationships, friendships, lovers and partners as well as ourselves. The reader will continuously be treated to insights that are warm and vibrant.

Mating for Life
How can three sisters grow up to be so different? Or are they. Marissa Stapley's Mating for Life is an entertaining look at three women whose mother was a Joni Mitchell-esque singer who never really thought much about marriage. Until….in her later years she is contemplating this while her daughters are dealing with their own partnership issues. Fiona states toward the beginning of the novel, "how strange it was that there were truths that could exist in families that everyone ignored, even though they were devastating." Many of us can relate to that I'm sure. Each daughter's father was absent in some way either
…more by death or non-interest. Do we need that man to guide us or do we just need each other? Interesting stuff. As Fiona discovers and states with a Cezanne quote, "We all live in a rainbow of chaos." And yes, I believe we all do! (less)Mothers and daughters, sisters … there is nothing better and yet nothing more complicated and often times difficult. I enjoyed reading about the relationships … the ways the family related to each other, the way they love, dislike … often outright hurt one another ... and then put it all back together in the name of love and family. No-one can hurt your soul like a sister and then give you the shirt off their back to make it better!!!!

What a lovely book!
I am so lucky - I haven't gotten a bad book yet. Some need a little work, but this is not one of those books.......Read it, it will make you smile, most of the time. It's true to life and I have seen myself in all the ladies at one time or another.
