About this book

Book Summary

Cassia has always trusted the Society to make the right choices for her: what to read, what to watch, what to believe. So when Xander's face appears on-screen at her Matching ceremony, Cassia knows with complete certainty that he is her ideal mate ... until she sees Ky Markham's face flash for an instant before the screen fades to black.

The Society tells her it's a glitch, a rare malfunction, and that she should focus on the happy life she's destined to lead with Xander. But Cassia can't stop thinking about Ky, and as they slowly fall in love, Cassia begins to doubt the Society's infallibility and is faced with an impossible choice: between Xander and Ky, between the only life she's known and a path that no one else has dared to follow.

Media Reviews

"Starred Review. Condie's enthralling and twisty dystopian plot is well served by her intriguing characters and fine writing. While the ending is unresolved...Cassia's metamorphosis is gripping and satisfying." - Publishers Weekly

"Starred Review. Detractors will legitimately cite less-than-subtle morality and similarities to The Giver, but this one's a fierce, unforgettable page-turner in its own right." - Kirkus

"This futuristic fable of love and free will asks: Can there be freedom without choice? The tale of Cassia's journey from acceptance to rebellion will draw you in and leave you wanting more." - Cassandra Clare, New York Times bestselling author of The Infernal Devices and The Mortal Instruments series

Attempt to Review
This book would piques interests of those who are into dystopian novels, you know, the-world-as-we-know-it-has-ended and now, in here the existing population is under the tight control of the Government called as "Society". our protagonist Cassia Reyes worships her society until the day of her "Matching Banquet". That one situation changes her whole life.
But the book fails to add the needed strength that projects Cassia as THE girl that would rock the foundation of their world.
Then comes the love triangle, although a decision has been made by the end of the book, the book should have had touched more aspects on jealousy, the choice and the pain involved.
The MATCHED is fast pace but is very light on wittiness, there is no one place that would want the reader to smile.
The background and the plot is very intriguing and if you are into books where a violin-is-played-in-the-background kind, then is a good choice.
