Media Reviews

"Astute readers will have fun picking up clues as to what's really going on. Fans of expertly crafted whodunits will be rewarded." - Publishers Weekly

"Readers who enjoy books by Gillian Flynn and Ruth Ware, as well as the earlier thrillers by award-winning Irish author Howard (Distress Signals; The Liar's Girl) will find this a perfect vacation read; full of twists and turns and just the right touch of creepiness. A must for mystery and thriller collections." - Library Journal

"Catherine Ryan Howard is a gift to crime writing. Her characters are credible, her stories are original, and her plotting is ingenious. Every book is a treat to look forward to." - Liz Nugent, bestselling author of Unraveling Oliver and Skin Deep

"There's no hitting stop in this cleverly crafted thriller. With its claustrophobic, isolated setting and superb cast of characters, Rewind will keep you utterly absorbed until the last tense turn of the page. Compelling and brilliant. The perfect read for any crime-fiction fan." - Olivia Kiernan, author of The Killer in Me

"Terrific. A cast of brilliantly drawn characters, whip-smart dialogue, and the thrill of the remote Irish setting kept me hooked from the first page to the last." - Gilly Macmillan, New York Times bestselling author of What She Knew

"Rewind is brilliant: an expertly constructed thriller that plays on our worst fears about modern life. Catherine Ryan Howard has a genius for creating memorable and convincing characters--some appealing, some horrifying--and the plot moves back and forth through their lives like a pendulum counting down to the explosive ending." - Jane Casey, author of Let the Dead Speak

'Rewind' tells you a lot...
I had such a hard time getting into this book. I started it three separate times and finally pushed my way through it. 'Rewind' tells you a lot! And I think that was my downfall. Every few pages the story would rewind. Trying to keep characters straight and then going back in time was confusing for me. The book did not start, then rewind and continue forward in one loop, it would rewind every few pages and take up at varying intervals. It took me half way through the book to even understand it was a murder mystery and which character was murdered.

I can say that the final 50 pages or so were good. The whole story was brought together in a very good way - understandable - and the real villain revealed.

I cannot recommend this book, but also do not want to discourage anyone from reading it. Just because this book did not click with me does not mean that others will not like it. I will pay attention to any other reviews that I see on this book, just to try to understand what it was that I missed that made this book so difficult for me.
