About this book

Book Summary

Three best friends turn to murder to collect on their husbands' life insurance policies… But the husbands have a plan of their own in this darkly funny debut that will delight readers from the first laugh to the final twist.

After thirty years of friendship, Pam dreams of her perfect retirement with Nancy, Shalisa, Marlene, and their husbands—until their husbands pool their funds for an investment that goes terribly wrong. Suddenly, their golden years are looking as dreary as their marriages.

But when the women discover their husbands have seven-figure life insurance policies, a new dream forms. And this time, they need a hitman.

Meanwhile, their husbands are working on their own secret retirement scheme and when things begin to go sideways, they fear it's backfired. The husbands scramble to stay alive…but soon realize they may not be quick enough to outmaneuver their wives.

Media Reviews

"A sure-footed and deeply funny debut….Readers will turn the pages with glee as the interests of the desperate husbands and determined wives collide with a pack of Mumbai gangsters and a dog-loving private investigator. Hincenbergs knocks it out of the park." —Publishers Weekly (starred review)

"The story carries the same darkly humorous vibes as Apple TV's Bad Sisters, as the wives and husbands struggle with their decisions to do very bad things for somewhat good reasons, in very funny ways. A perfect read for those who are looking to lose themselves in a world of likable, flawed characters and are up for some wildly over-the-top hijinks." —Booklist

"The perfect cocktail of well-plotted, good-hearted, murderous fun. Sue Hincenbergs has created a world of lovable characters, surprising twists, and satisfying resolutions." —Nina Simon, New York Times bestselling author of Mother-Daughter Murder Night

"This funny, twisty read about three girlfriends who turn to murder had me turning the pages late into the night. Razor-sharp and deviously dark!" —Sarah Pearse, bestselling author of The Sanatorium
