Anne Blankman grew up in a small town near Albany, New York. When Anne was twelve, she read Anne Frank's diary and has been haunted by World War II ever since. The idea for Prisoner of Night and Fog came to her after she learned about Geli Raubal, Hitler's beloved half niece who once shared his Munich apartment. Anne began wondering what it would have been like to be a young girl growing up in the Nazi elite's hypermasculine and violent world. Anne lives in southeastern Virginia with her husband, Mike, her young daughter, Kirsten, and, of course, lots and lots of books.
