Nathan Filer is a writer and a mental health nurse. He has worked as a researcher at the academic unit of psychiatry at the University of Bristol and on in-patient psychiatric wards. Filer graduated from the prestigious Bath Spa University creative writing program with an MA in 2011. In 2015 he was awarded the Honorary Degree of Master of Letters from the University of the West of England and an Honorary Doctorate in Liberal Arts from Abertay University. These degrees were conferred in recognition of his role in raising awareness through literature and his commitment to mental healthcare.
He lives in Bristol with his wife and two children, and lectures in Creative Writing at Bath Spa University. His first novel is The Shock of the Fall (UK title), which was released in the USA as Where The Moon Isn't.
