Was anyone curious about how these forgers made the documents look so authentic? I always wondered how they were not found out.

More detail would have been interesting. Eva seems to have had success on her first attempt, which is a little unrealistic. And she seems to have been able to work fairly quickly. Since the forging was such an important part of the story, I would have liked to know how these amateurs were able to do so well. And how relatively easy it was for them to get the inks and other materials.

I think adding too much detail about the forgery process would have detracted from the story. I plan to do some research of my own about how successful forgers actually were in making realistic fake documents that would pass the scrutiny of the Germans. I wondered if the papers were that convincing or if most of the soldiers who were inspecting the papers, just didn't care and were simply going through the motions because it was expected of them.
I assumed the documents were easier to forge because of the rudimentary methods used to create authentic documents at the time.
