I learned so much information. I will just state that I did not realize all of the laws written during the founding of our country, as our country grew, after the Civil War, during reconstruction, during the Civil Rights era, and afterward to maintain slavery and then to maintain segregation.

I grew up in the South during the 40's and 50's. I saw firsthand how the blacks were held down, denigrated, and separated. But over the years, I have also seen tremendous changes where doors have opened for all ethnicities. I understand we have to be honest when telling the story of America, but we should also be showing the advances Blacks have made for themselves. They should never be ashamed of their background, or their fight for civil rights. But we must move forward to make sure these advances continue.
