No I do not believe it is possible to contact spirits and I do not believe in ghosts.

Neither do I believe in ghosts or contacting spirits. Also, I don't believe in reincarnation. Sometimes I'm concerned that contemporary authors stick in a topic they think are trending.

You know, while I've had no personal experiences with ghosts or anything supernatural, I'm not willing to rule it out. If one believes one has a soul, then why couldn't a soul stick around for awhile? Even if one only thinks their being is pure energy, it seems possible that that energy could coalesce outside the body before dissipating.

I do not believe in ghosts and would personally not consider contacting dead spirits.
If someone else finds comfort seeking these contacts, I would never judge their attempts. I do think Liz was having very credible flashes of memory from her young past. She was actually on the scene for those events.

No, I've watched relatives use all means of methods (i.e. ouija boards, mystics, etc) to contact their departed loved ones and it just leads to more grief when they don't get the response they are seeking.

I don't believe in ghosts, nor do I believe it's possible to contact someone who has died. But it's fun to read about ghosts once in a while! I believed Liz was having memory flashbacks.

I believe Liz was having flashbacks of her past. I don’t believe you can contact spirits of your loved ones, however, I do believe that spirits/ghosts possibly exist, as we don’t know and understand everything. I personally had what I believe to be a spirit experience, as well as, my young niece who has and a few friends who have.

I doubt it, but people do find signs in their daily life where they feel their departed's presence. I think that is probably just the memory becoming stronger at that given moment that causes that unique feeling. Seeing a rainbow at a wedding can be interpreted as the departed grandmother’s presence.

While I would not intentionally try to contact one of my deceased loved ones nor am I a fan of popular supernatural genre in movies & stories, I am going to agree with kimk's assessment. I definitely believe in a soul as a person's essence. What happens to that essence after death, I can't say. But I do know that many religions do adhere to an afterlife as part of their theology. I've also had the eery experience out of the blue in feeling my deceased sister's fleeting but very real presence a few times while grading exams early in the morning before getting ready for work. We were both teachers. So, was that a real sensation or just my mind playing tricks on me?? This has only happened with her and no one else who I have lost over the years. Very strange.
With regards to the book, I had a very difficult time with this plot line. I don't believe that it is realistic for someone who is roughly 2 years old to have such dramatic, repeated & specific recall in the form of flashbacks. Nor did I believe she was channeling the abducted children. Whenever one of these events surfaced, it threw me out of the story & into my present location. I would just chalk it up to a plot device & move on.

I don't believe that we can contact spirits after their deaths but there are many people who do. There are so many things that we don't understand in life that I believe that it might be possible.

I don't have any experience with spirits or communication with the departed, but I am not willing to totally dismiss the idea either. There are 2 very good books about spirits who stay around after their deaths to watch out for their loved ones, THE LOVELY BONES and IN AN INSTANT, which make me wonder about the possibility.
As for Liz's story, I completely agree with tsquared above that Liz was not "remembering" the burying of a baby, etc when she was maybe 2 years old, and the idea of her channeling any of those little girls just seemed a poor plot device which I couldn't accept.

Yes I think it is possible. I never ignore one's experience, that's not my business. I believe in seeing light and energy when one comes close to death. I for one, think it's healthier to believe in possibilities, than to close my mind off.

I did not think Liz was having a psychic experience, nor did I think she was hallucinating... It just didn't fit with her character. I don't believe you can contact the departed, but never say never. There is so much we don't understand, and I have felt very close to dearly departed family at times in my life.

I have had numerous experiences that have convinced me that there are sprits (not ghosts) around us & communication is possible, to an extent. I would not participate in seances or other nonsense, but enough inexplicable occurrences have persuaded me to keep an open mind on the subject and pay close attention to my surroundings because there is evidence to be found if you are observant.

This aspect of the story was not very successfully depicted, in my opinion. Less would have been more, frankly.

I can't say that I believe or disbelieve. I do think some people feel the need to believe at certain times in their life and for some it brings a sense of peace.
