This is a tough one. Not having lived through something like this myself, it's hard to pass judgement on someone's decision whether to carry on or terminate a relationship. Every situation is different. I think Liz handled it the best she could with the resources and knowledge she had to devote on the situation at that time.

It was smart to terminate the relationship and I am glad she confronts him. Perhaps he will change his ways but probably not!

I was surprised she terminated the relationship since initially she seemed "desperate" to have a man in her life. Good for her to stand on her own two feet. He really was a jerk.

I think she was entirely too nice about it! She tells him per the quote above, "I suppose we’ve both been remarkably reticent with the truth, haven’t we, Bob." She should have let him know in no uncertain terms what a/an total [insert expletive here] he was.

She needed to confront him on this and I think she did a good job.

I think that the way that Liz confronted him was a good way to do it. I have a very low opinion of men who cheat on their wives this way and thought it served him right since he was such a jerk.

I was glad she confronted him and ended the relationship. I was a bit surprised she was so nice to him about it tho. I guess she took the "high" road and did not lower herself to his level, which I did admire. Interactions between people would be so much nicer if more people took that approach. Get your point across, but don't be nasty about it!

I think she did fine. I doubt that I would have been that polite.

Good for her! She confronted him and let him know that she knew he was a liar and a cheat. She did it with class and without hysterics. I would like to believe that I could handle a situation that well.

This is such a very small part of the book, and handled, I think, the way most women would handle such a situation.

I would have been outraged at his duplicity. Wouldn’t have been nice.

I say good for her. However, I found this plot thread a bit extraneous--guess it showed her character but I found it distracted from the main story.

How one handles disappointment through dishonesty definitely shows her inner strength. It brings to light her sense of right and wrong which emerges as a theme in this book.

I was glad that she confronted him but she told him that she had a boyfriend. I was sorry she included that statement. It almost sounded like that was why she was rejecting him.

I found that scene very believable because he was a colleague & she knew she would have to encounter him in theworkplace from time to time. But she let him know that she knew what he was up to & made her feelings known in a credible way that reflected her personal values and dignity. I thought it was handled very well by the author.

She did an OK job, however, I would not have been so civil.
