I feel this book is appropriate for adults but maybe even for young adults.

This book reminded me of books my mother would gravitate to. Simple mystery, nothing deep.

I agree with Janet and Maggie--a good book for those who enjoy historical fiction, simple mystery and a bit of romance.

Same time period and topic (evacuated children, missing children, bit of mystery) as Secret Book of Flora Lea by Patti Henry.

This was not heavy reading. It was good for a summertime escape.

This book will appeal to readers who like historical fiction. I have read other books written by Rys Bowen, and am definitely a fan.

I think the audience is young adult, mystery and some remote history.

I would say anyone who was an adult in the 1960s might like this story. It's hard to say how accurate the period details were if you were not around Liz's age during that time. This author has written a library of books, so if you liked this book I would imagine you would enjoy the author's others.

This is a book for mystery and/or historical fiction lovers who also don’t want to worry about explicit sexual content, profanity, and complicated writing style. It’s a good straightforward novel that makes for a really enjoyable read. Ruth ware comes to mind, but also Fiona Barton (The Widow), Paulette Jiles (News of the World), Kristin Hannah (The Nightingale).

It would be a good book for people who enjoyed historical fiction that isn't too deep or complicated.

I tend to agree with the comments by the others. The Rose Arbor was an interesting & enjoyable quick read that would probably be most appreciated by those who prefer intrigue with a happy ending in a historical fiction setting. I'm not sure what age bracket that might include but I did like the inclusion of YA readers to introduce them to the events of that era. I have enjoyed other Rhys Bowen books (most notably The Tuscan Child) and would recommend those to others before this particular novel. In addition to those authors listed by mceacd, if a reader really enjoyed this book, I believe they would enjoy any Kate Morton book as well.

For what audience would enjoy this book….

Anyone interested in historical novels about displaced children. I just finished The Berry Pickers by Amanda Peters. It deals with a similar theme of a child being raised by someone other than biological parents.

It's definitely a book that would be enjoyed by other fans of historical fiction, as well as mystery lovers who are willing to suspend their disbelief in significant respects. There were some aspects of the storyline that didn't work for me and, frankly, there was A LOT going on in this book. Too much, in some ways.
