What did you think of Ellis's reaction when CeCe finally tells him the truth? Did it surprise you at all?

Ellis had put up with a lot from CeCe, yet still loved and supported her. When he found out what she'd done - as an attorney no less - and just to sustain what, in his view, was a grasping, materialistic, and ultimately worthless lifestyle, he snapped. It was even worse when he found out what she was willing to do with Mark to cover it up. Yet he supported her - even though she still whined about not wanting to turn herself in because she didn't think she should have to go to jail.
CeCe was definitely not my favorite character and I had a hard time thinking she would ever bring Ellis anything but more heartache.

In my opinion, Terah Shelton Harris did and excellent job in character development. For me, if the author doesn't build a strong characterization at the beginning I can lose interest in a story quickly or get confused. If I start with a clear image in my mind I usually am drawn into the story quickly and it is not a DNF. Therefore, I knew from the start Ellis was a good man. He was admirable to stick with CeCe even after he learned of her actions, which was not surprising with his characterization. HIs reaction to the things she had done were true to character of a person who truly loved someone.

Ellis was such a tender, wonderful person. He truly loved CeCe unconditionally, and he wanted her to be her best person. I was glad she recognized his value and tried to be a better person. For CeCe I could see how each lie and misdeed lead to another, bigger lie. She was fortunate that she listened and grew into a better person.

Ellis was my favorite character, CeCe my least favorite. CeCe got in over head and she was drowning from her decisions. Ellis loved her so deeply that although angry and hurt and exasperated, he was able to forgive her and encouraged her to turn herself in, to do the right thing. That’s what I liked about him the most - he did the right things for the right reasons because they were the right thing to do. A man of integrity.
