I think that the 5th is good in parts but eventually becomes too long for the readers liking. Also it is not quite as spell-binding as ,say, the 4th book. While`Goblet of Fire` was gripping towards the end,the 5th book is definitely not as good.

B+ I read the Order of the Phoenix on our beach vacation in June. I have to be honest, I absolutely loved it. I thought it was much better than the Goblet of Fire, which was sloppily written added with a very unRowlingish type of writing (very little imagination and more of the dark, Gothic humor) and the plot was so thin you had to observe it under a microscope. However, I believe that because Ms. Rowling wrote her book in the span of three years (even though I dreaded the wait) I believe it helped in the long run. We see why Snape hates Harry and his family, why Harry spends his summers with the Durselys, we are swept to new places of the Wizarding world such as the Ministry of Magic and St. Mungo's, and we above all find ourselves lost in Ms. Rowlings imagination. However, I am still disappointed in her terrible prose, especially in her dialouge. (Too many adverbs, ellipses, and CAPITAL LETTERS that she uses when someone's angry.) Also, we all know it, she does as well, that her writing is not great even though she makes an admirable effort in this book to fix that problem. But I mean come on, "the owl shot through the window and landed on the table like a furry cannonball." What? That's absolutely terrible! And how many times do we have to read that Umbridge looks like a toad? She only stated it 100,000,000,000... times! I'm sorry to say, but I sometimes find myself editing the book as I read. I might as well take a red pen and slash through every 'Ron said superciliously, Hermione said matter-of-factly,' and make tally marks of how many times Ms. Rowling writes, 'Harry went to stretch his legs,' instead of 'Harry went to take a walk.' I'm sorry if I sounded cruel, but these things need to be changed. What are editors for? But still I should say that this was my favorite Harry book and JK Rowling is still one of my favorite authors. I only said these things so that she will understand her flaws and actually fix them before the next two books!

I was not really sure about how to rate this one. The plot of the story was a bit boring, drab, and a little bit bland. I finished reading it with a little bit of dissapointment, because I had heard other reviews about this book that all said that it was very good. I do hope that Rowling's next book is better; this one was a bit of a clishe. !2 yrs.

I just finished the book last night and it put a huge damper on my entire fun-filled weekend! How could you kill off <<edited for plot spoiler content>>. I just can't believe it happened...I'm looking for something pretty amazing next book to make up for that bad decision!
